The Fab Five was Fabulous!

Last Monday afternoon, the Fab Five performed at a Mother's day tea at a local care center. They played "Argentina Sky" both versions (first straight and then in a swing tempo), "Midnight Boogie", "Tennessee Waltz", "The Weaver's Poem", "The Rose" and ended with "Ye Olde Saloon". The residents clapped and sang and moved their hands from side to side. As I was watching, I noticed several folks with tears in their eyes during "Tennessee Waltz". During "Midnight Boogie" folks were playing the rhythms in the air. During the swing version of "Argentina Sky" folks held their arms like they were dancing with a loved one. The nursing staff filled the doorways and eventually filled the room. Smiles and tears. The residents seemed to be transported into another world. Their faces truly "lit up". The positive energy in the room was beautiful! With the last glissando at the end of "Ye Olde Saloon" the concert came to an end. Music has the power to change lives. The folks in the care center were so appreciative and grateful . . . asking if we could come back 'tomorrow'. The Fab Five did so much more than perform - they provided love and joy and hope through their music . . . What a wonderful afternoon for all!
